I’m going to follow Paul McKenna’s I Will Make You Thin 4 Golden Rules:-
eat when I am hungry (and, only when I am hungry). I don’t care if it is 10 in the morning or 10 in the evening, when I am hungry, I gonna eat.
eat what I want to eat (and, only what I want to eat). If I want steak, I eat steak. If I want crisps, I’ll eat crisps. If I want an apple, I eat and apple. I’ll eat what I want, when I want.
eat consciously, thinking about each and every bite, tasting every molecule. Chew very, very slowly and imagine the food moving from my mouth into my stomach, satisfying my cravings and energizing my body. While eating, drink a large glass of water (or, two large glasses of water).
eat until I am full and then stop eating.

Let them get on with it: They’ve got to learn to plan their own lives. And that means learning the consequences of making the wrong decisions too.
Teach them to think for themselves.
Use praise wisely: Right amount, right ways for the right things. Be specific too.
Know the value of boundaries.
Bribery doesn’t have to be bad: Ideally make the reward fit the request.
Moods are catching: Parents are responsible.
The way the children eat will set up habits they will find it very hard to break: We’ve taught the Daughter that desserts are where it’s at as she doesn’t get one if she doesn’t eat her main course.
Communicate.
Set clear targets.
Don’t be a nag: Use didn’t rather than never.
Carrots beat sticks.
Be consistent.
Lighten up.
